About Copiah Academy Library

The Copiah Academy Library invites reading and learning through resources and service in the library space and extends resources to students and teachers beyond through a web presence that gives access 24/7.  The Library program is grounded in Information Literacy, pleasure reading, and carefully selected resources that support the teaching curriculum.

Information Literacy is the ability to effectively find, evaluate and use information across all media and disciplines.  The complexity of the present world of information demand that students be discerning researchers, ethical users and creators of knowledge.  The librarian and teachers work together to enrich this teaching and learning experience.

Reading for pleasure is encouraged in that research tells us that those who read for pleasure attain an empathy for others, a better understanding of themselves, and a broader sense of being connected to the world.  Statistics tell us that those who read for pleasure are more successful students and have an insight and empathy to others.  The CA Book Fair and the library support of the Accelerated Reader program are meant to support this thought.

In collaboration with teachers, the library welcomes resource suggestions both in the library and online.  Teacher pages or classroom materials are welcomed and can be added to the library web page.
